A vast number of players with a huge interest in Rummy often stay in confusion about, the legality of Rummy in India. Well, let us affirm that it is now completely legal to play Dangal Rummy/Online Rummy in India. The Supreme Court of India has declared it as a game of skill, plus, it is now protected by the constitution of India.

In the court ruling, playing games like Rummy are now considered as business activity, also the activity of playing a game of skill with cash is protected under the Article 19[1](g) of the Constitution of India.

The Supreme Court of India ordered in the year 1968 that rummy is a game of skill. This judgment has been relied on and followed in many following judgments. In 1996, the Supreme Court of India also declared that:-

1. A competition where the success of an individual participated depends on a significant degree of skill is not gambling
2. Even though there is an element of chance, Rummy is dominantly a game of skill and thus may be considered a game of 'mere skill.'

Individuals residing in states like Sikkim, Odisha, Nagaland, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are prohibited from playing Rummy with cash because the laws of their state government are not clear. Rummy Dangal does not allow players living in these states to play rummy with money. Although, they can still play the practice mode for free, and we may allow them to play our cash games in the future when their state laws will change.
